Women are doing it for themselves

Last night, Mee Girl found herself as 'guest speaker' at a rather glamorous networking 'do' in London. In fact, there were two Mee girls speaking. And if we're completely honest, it was the most frightening thing we've ever done.

We were asked by marmaLADYa.com, a fabulous website for women in business, to speak about our 'Beautiful Brand'. We were so flattered to be asked, how could we possibly say no?

We practiced our speech on the train, the tube, even pushing through the crowds on Oxford Street. Between visits to Zara and H&M of course! By the time we reached the venue, Sketch, the most wonderful boudoir-esque 'salon de te' come bar, dressed up in our Mee dresses and heels, we were laden down with shopping bags. An antidote for our nerves!

After a cupcake or two for the sugar rush, and a glass of wine (or two) for Dutch courage, with knees buckling and hands shaking, we delivered our talk to 50 women, all with their own businesses, from PR, marketing, and IT, to stylists, website designers, and those with their own boutiques, on how we started Mee, and the growth of our 'brand'. We hope we were able to inspire some of them with our story!

Apart from the nerves, it was a fabulous evening and refreshing to meet so many women 'doing it for themselves'.

Is it spring yet?

Can the weather please decide what it's doing! Is it spring, or is it winter? With a boutique full of summer dresses, kaftans and bikinis, we thought we'd said goodbye to our Uggs once and for all. We're fed up of winter clothes! We want to be wearing our new maxi dresses, shorts, and flirty skirts. Our pretty new pumps and wedge heels are screaming to be let out of their boxes.

But, if we must talk winter, the girls at Mee simply can't wait for next season. Chunky knits, beaded tunics, jumper dresses, smocks, boyfriend jumpers, skinny cords, jersey-print dresses, and trench coats. Mee will be a boutique full of winter deliciousness. We want it all now!

In the meantime however, can the sun please keep shining? Even if it is freezing cold, at least we can put on our tea dresses and dream of summer.

Introducing… Mee Girl

Ever wondered what it’s like running a fashion and lifestyle boutique?

Is it really like Wags Boutique, or something more reminiscent of Are You Being Served? Do we swan about dressed top-to-toe in designer clothes and dangerously high heels, or do we spend our days sitting behind the counter with a cup of tea and the latest Grazia?

Our blog is the diary of a shop girl. Or should we say, a Mee Girl! We’re going to give you all the behind-the-scenes gossip from the shop floor. We’ll be spilling the beans on what we’ll be selling (and of course, wearing) next season. And when we say next season, we mean next winter! We’ll also be filling you in on all the gorgeous I-can’t-possibly-live-without things that are currently being delivered and unpacked for spring/summer at Mee as we speak, from our favourite maxi dresses, kaftans, and summer frocks, to our must-have flip flops, handbags and accessories.

But we’re also going to be letting you into the secrets of the buying, the fashion shows, the competition, the label pinching by other boutiques, the selling, the customers, the laughs, the tears, and the aching feet!

Oh, and there won’t be a WAG in sight!
